Broken Asus laptop screen? - Use these tips to find a replacement

By Jacob Hunter

Asus produces around 150,000 laptops every month from their base in the Far East. However, they don't just make laptops; they are also a major motherboard manufacturer and produce around two million of these every month also. Although they focus on their own brand, they make parts for other laptop manufacturers and are classed as a trusted market leader.

Although Asus make laptops and motherboards, they do not actually make their own laptop screens. This might sound surprising to some given the firm's size and presence, however to set up such a facility is a huge undertaking and because technology is moving at such a fast pace the investment needed would be prohibitive.

If you need a replacement screen for your Asus, the three things that can be used to identify a particular laptop screen are the screen size, the resolution of the screen and whether the screen is CCFL or LED. As a rule of thumb it's better to opt for a screen with a higher resolution as the number of pixels will be more meaning a better quality image and clearer display.

If you have the original instructions that came with your laptop, you should be able to find the information you need about the screen. However, if not, you may be able to find the information you are looking for online, and some websites can even detect the resolution of the screen for you.

If you want to determine if the screen is CCFL or LED it's a simple task to cross-reference the part number. Otherwise you can remove the screen and check the number of wires on the connector cable. A CCFL screen has two thin wires and a white plug.

Laptop screens are available for the Asus EEE PC laptop screen, Asus F3E Screen and Asus G72 direct from the manufacturer or other internet sources. Replacement screen prices are very reasonable and parts arrive packed appropriately. It's always advisable to buy a screen with a warranty so you can send it back if it stops working.
