By Steve Watson

Sending traffic to your blog is only half the battle; the other one is keeping people on your site till they become part of your community. What are the most important factors which make a blog compelling? This text is going to show you 10 of the best methods to keep readers so hooked on your blog that you'll be a blogging winner in virtually no time.

"Find your True Reader" - Find the reader that you would like for your blog. Blanketing the cyberspace with your link to send irrelevant traffic gives you high numbers in your reports but if folks aren't engaging than what is the point? Find the reader that's going to use your information and will be coming back time and time again.

"Install Share Widgets and Buttons" - Add share widgets and buttons to your blog and trap your visitors to click on them to share your content with others. Sharing content not only creates a little boost of pleasure from finding quality content online for others but it will send new, potential community members to your website.

"Answer Every Comment" - Handle every comment you receive like it were your first. Respond to each message as it comes in to engage with your community and keep your readers interested to come back and hear your response. Don't skimp out on leaving comments e.g. the one-liner "fantastic comment!" spend a little time digging into what they have to claim and expand on it.

"Create Valuable Content" - Create content that people wish to constantly read. Write content that teases the interests of your reader and delivers them content which can't be found some place else. Add your own voice to give the content a singular angle so folks can build an emotional connection to you and your blog.

"Connect Outside of the Blog" - Never stop at connecting with your community only on your website; connect to community members in other social networks like on Twitter, LinkedIn or Facebook. Going the additional mile to say hello or thanking them outside of your blog has the power to make a permanent relationship as it shows you actually care for their collusion.

"Share Private Stories" - Share something personal with your audience that will give lasting impressions. Give your fans a glimpse into your own life including the highs and lows. Folk naturally wish to engage with other readers and the more human you can be the bigger chance they are going to become engrained in your blogging community.

"Highlight your Readers" - Tell the rest of your community about a commenter that you're actually thankful for. Not only will the individual being highlighted feel appreciated and come back regularly but because you're showing your appreciation others will try to be more active so that they can gain the recognition.

"Build a Mail List" - Setup and apply an email newsletter or list. Email lets you create a private connection with others outside of your blog which can cause consultations which increase collaboration besides waiting around for the following post.

"Use Subscription Options" - Use numerous choices for your fans to sign up to your blog such as RSS, email RSS or by following you on widely recognized social networks like Twitter or Facebook. Not everybody will use a single option you set for them which explains why you should give them a variety of decisions on your blog.

"Be everywhere" - Be active in multiple social communities including your reader's own blogs. Join Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and any social network you'll find your audience; begin engaging with them on their own preferred network - go to them instead of them to you.
