Money Saving Tips Around the House

By Lamo Damo

There are so many great ways to save money around the house which is great in an economic climate such as this. The good times have passed and it will be quite some time before they return so people need to realize this and adjust their lifestyle accordingly.

Below are just a number of suggestions to save a little money around the home. With these cost savings, reduce any debt you may have including credit card or home mortgage. If you have no personal debt, you can place it towards a family vacation.

Money Saving Tip 1. Don't run water when shaving or brushing teeth. I cannot believe how many people still leave the tap running when they’re brushing their teeth. For crying out loud, the toothbrush only needs to be wet to use. Did you know that if you don’t leave the tap running that you can save up to 5 gallons per visit to the sink. Not only that but you’ll also save on your water bills.

Money Saving Tip 2. Avoid credit card debt. If you do not have the money to pay for what you are buying, don’t buy it. The fact that over 60% of American families have a monthly credit card debt of over $12,000 is staggering. The interest repayments on credit card loans is crippling. So if you can, don’t use the credit card.

Money Saving Tip 3. Hang Clothes Out To Dry. Many families use ducted heating to dry their clothes. Reduce your gas and electricity bill by choosing not to use your ducted heating or dryer.

Money Saving Tip 4. Use freebies and samples. With the market in the position it is in, businesses are now marketing their items using free samples. This provides a great opportunity for you to save but also to make educated buying decisions.
