When A PC Is Slow Could A System Restore Help?

By Roberto Berry

When our computers are not running fast enough it is extremely frustrating. There are many things that will slow a PC down including viruses, malware, corrupt files, or others. These conditions may be corrected in different ways as well.

You can find one of these possible repairs placed inside the PC itself and it is easy enough for everyone to do it. It's a System Restore feature that is included as part of our computer operating system utilities. You can find it by going to Programs and Accessories and click on the System Tools. Here you should see System Restore. You will also see Disk Cleanup and Disk Defragmenter located here as well and these are additional good maintenance tools you can utilize.

System Restore is actually easy to do yet most regular computer users do not know about it or have never used it. When you click on the system restore tab you are taken to a box that will tell you that this feature can help if your computer is running slow or not responding correctly. It also indicates that it will not hurt any of your files and the process is completely reversible. It gives you a recommended restore point date or you can choose another one. You simply follow the instructions.

To restore your computer will set it back to the way it was a couple of days earlier. This is very valuable if you have had something happen that has caused the pc to stop performing properly. A good example might be if your computer's processor was shut down without warning and when it was restarted it wouldn't work properly.

A system restore affects computer operating system data files, application files and registry files. It cannot repair problems more than a few days old, usually about 30 days, or restore removed or deleted data files.

If your pc has gotten slower and slower over a long period of time you may need to run a register cleaning program. A registry cleaning software will do essentially what the restore can do as well as other valuable optimization functions.
