The Correct Way to Raise Your Website's Page Rank

By Karen Backe

Google is one of the most powerful search engines we have today, and why not? With more than 80% of web traffic generated from Google, it's hard to imagine a life without it. Website owners and Bloggers, however, have a more involved relationship than average web users do with Google because it ranks their websites. There are a lot of things that matter in terms of getting your site ranked within Google and one of those things is page rank. Raising the rank of your website won't just help you sit well with Google it will give you consistent rankings for traffic.

Avoid Random Link Exchanges: An important factor in your page ranking is how many low quality backlinks you have--low quality backlinks can get your site downgraded by Google which makes it harder for your site to get ranked overall. This is the reason that you need to avoid participating in random link exchanges with other webmasters whose only goal is the raising up of their own sites too. You need to be finding one way quality backlinks and not worrying or wasting time on your link exchanges.

Go for Quality Link Building: Just the way it's important to get a higher number of backlinks to your website to increase the page rank, it's also necessary that you put in the effort to gain quality backlinks. If the websites that link back to yours are high quality sites then obviously this is going to work in your favor. Google often sees these positive votes to be a big plus point when granting page rank because the whole search engine ranking system is built upon getting backlinks and ranking pages for the right keywords.

Learn Basic SEO: It's okay if you have no SEO experience. If you want to raise your site's page ranking, though, you need to learn at least some basic SEO. You'll have to understand that search engine optimization goes beyond just gaining a few backlinks, as there are many other factors that come into play. The nice thing about SEO is that it can be learned on the go as you work to build your site and business and that means that you can practically apply the things you learn and then watch to see what kind of results you get. Getting higher page ranking involves being able to keep the "Big G" happy so the better you optimize your site, the better off your site will be.

Finally it is incredibly important to be patient as you work to raise your website's page rank because this is something that cannot and will not happen in the course of a day. Practicing patience is helpful in every part of website building, not just in achieving higher page rankings. Do not allow yourself to fall for any scam that promises immediate page ranking boosts; the only way to get it to happen is to take action regularly.
